Bantul – MTsN 6 Bantul (Matsanaba) collaborated with Praktik Kependidikan (PK) students from Yogyakarta State University (UNY) to strengthen literacy culture among students through a special program at the de’Talenta Library on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The collaboration emphasized the importance of literacy activities in shaping students’ ability to read critically and write as a form of self-expression.
The program was designed through thorough coordination between Matsanaba teachers and the PK students. Discussions focused on planning, activity implementation, and the expected outcomes. One of the main targets of the program is for students to produce inspirational stories that reflect their ideas and creativity, allowing them to explore writing as a medium of expression.
To ensure smooth execution, the UNY PK students worked in an organized manner by dividing classes and collaborating directly with language teachers. This strategy allowed the activities to be more effective, as students were guided step by step in developing their writing skills. The partnership also created a bridge between academic theory and practical classroom implementation.
Head of MTsN 6 Bantul, Sugiyono, highlighted the significance of this initiative. “Writing activities are very important for students. They not only train thinking skills but also build confidence in expressing ideas through words,” he stated, affirming the school’s support for collaborative literacy programs.
One of the participating UNY students, Dena, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration. “This program aligns with our role as PK students. Besides fulfilling our main duties, we are happy to contribute to literacy development at Matsanaba. Supporting students to write their own inspiring stories is a valuable experience for us as future educators,” she said.(ewl)
