Bantul (MTsN 6 Bantul) — MTsN 6 Bantul held a Smoke-Free Madrasah Integrity Pact Signing Ceremony on Monday (October 13, 2025) as a form of collective commitment to creating a healthy, clean, and smoke-free school environment. The event marks an important step in strengthening the school’s role in promoting health awareness and environmental care among its community members.
The event was attended by all teachers, staff, and students of MTsN 6 Bantul. It began with an opening speech by the Principal, Sugiyono, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a smoke-free environment within the school area to safeguard everyone’s health. “It is very important for all members of our madrasah community to protect our environment from cigarette smoke. Moreover, our school has already been recognized as an Adiwiyata (eco-friendly) madrasah,” he stated. He further encouraged everyone not only to sign the integrity pact symbolically but also to practice its values sincerely in their daily lives.
Following the principal’s remarks, the signing ceremony proceeded with teachers, staff members, and student representatives taking turns to sign the integrity pact document. The atmosphere was solemn yet filled with enthusiasm and unity as participants expressed their full commitment to supporting a smoke-free environment. The activity symbolized not just a formal declaration, but a shared moral responsibility to uphold health and discipline within the school.
MTsN 6 Bantul’s initiative reflects its dedication to building a strong culture of awareness about the dangers of smoking and secondhand smoke. Through continuous education and strict enforcement of the smoke-free policy, the madrasah aims to protect students from exposure to harmful substances and to promote a healthier lifestyle aligned with Islamic values of cleanliness and self-discipline.
With this commitment, MTsN 6 Bantul hopes to serve as a model for other educational institutions in Bantul and beyond. The school’s leadership believes that a smoke-free madrasah is not merely a policy but a movement toward nurturing a generation that is healthier, more disciplined, and environmentally conscious — a true embodiment of the school’s vision of excellence in character and environment.
