Bantul, November 3, 2025 — In an effort to enhance students’ understanding and achievement in numeracy, Mathematics teacher at MTsN 6 Bantul, Sri Surmiyati, initiated a special mentoring session for five Class IX A students who have shown a strong interest in mathematics. This activity represents the madrasah’s commitment to providing space for students’ academic development in a more focused and personalized way.
The mentoring sessions took place in the de’Talenta Library of MTsN 6 Bantul during free time after regular school hours. The learning atmosphere was conducive, utilizing an interactive and problem-solving approach. The focus of the mentoring was on strengthening basic concepts, practicing logical thinking, and applying strategies to solve challenging mathematical problems that often appear in school exams and competitions.
The participating students showed great enthusiasm in every session. They actively asked questions, discussed, and even collaborated in solving the problems given by their teacher. Through this activity, the students demonstrated growing confidence and a strong sense of collaboration. Sri Surmiyati emphasized that the mentoring aimed not only to improve academic skills but also to foster perseverance and resilience in overcoming learning challenges.
The Head of MTsN 6 Bantul, Sugiyono, expressed high appreciation for the initiative. He stated that such mentoring activities align with the madrasah’s vision to nurture excellent, critical, and character-driven students. “This mathematics mentoring program is a real example of how teachers cultivate the best potential of their students. We hope this kind of activity continues to grow so that more students are inspired to love mathematics and achieve success in the subject,” said Sugiyono. (sur/ewh)
