(Bantul–Matsanaba) – The de’Talenta Library of MTsN 6 Bantul continues to strengthen the culture of literacy within the madrasah by organizing a writing workshop for students on Wednesday (13/8/2025) at the school’s science laboratory. The session was guided by Bramma Aji Putra, a journalist, book editor, and Public Relations officer of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Yogyakarta (Kanwil Kemenag DIY). The workshop was enthusiastically attended by 40 students eager to sharpen their writing skills.
In his opening remarks, the Head of MTsN 6 Bantul, Sugiyono, emphasized the importance of the event as a concrete platform for practicing literacy. “Writing is not only an academic skill but also an essential life skill. With proper practice, students can express their ideas in a structured and engaging way,” he said. He hoped the workshop would motivate students to develop the habit of writing regularly.
During the workshop, Bramma explained the three main stages of the writing process, starting with Pre-writing. This stage includes preparation such as providing pen and paper, using digital devices, realizing that ideas are valuable, reading more, and determining the topic to be written. “Writing material comes from the habit of reading and the sensitivity to capture ideas,” he explained.
The next stage is Writing, where writers create an outline, organize their thoughts, use journalistic language, and craft an appealing title along with a captivating lead. Bramma highlighted that the beginning of a text must be strong enough to encourage readers to continue until the end.
The final stage, Post-writing, focuses on refining the text before submission. Writers need to reread their work several times to ensure there are no spelling or punctuation errors. “If you’re confident, send it right away. Don’t wait any longer,” Bramma advised. The workshop concluded with a short writing practice by participants, whose works were then shared to receive feedback from the trainer. (ewh)
