MTsN 6 Bantul, also known as Matsanaba, has turned its school canteen into more than just a place to buy food. On September 15, 2025, the school highlighted how the canteen plays a role as a real-life learning space where students can strengthen their character, especially honesty. The initiative allows students to practice entrepreneurship and explore practical skills in preparing food and beverages.
The head of the madrasah emphasized the importance of connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences. According to him, education should not stop at theory but must be linked to daily life. “It is important for students to experience how lessons can be applied in the real world,” he explained, underlining the role of the canteen as a living laboratory.
In this setting, students are encouraged to develop entrepreneurial spirit. They can learn firsthand how to manage simple sales, serve customers, and ensure product quality. These activities not only provide practical skills but also nurture responsibility and discipline.
Furthermore, the canteen also promotes religious values. Fauka Nurul, the canteen coordinator, explained that the canteen educates students on how to eat and drink according to Islamic teachings. This includes the etiquette of consuming food and the importance of gratitude. “The canteen teaches students that eating is not only about filling the stomach but also about practicing Islamic manners,” she said.
Through this dual function, the Matsanaba canteen has become a unique educational medium. It integrates academic lessons, character building, entrepreneurial practice, and religious values into one daily experience.
