Bantul (MTsN 6 Bantul) – MTsN 6 Bantul became the second largest contributor of participants in the district-wide Bantul Mengaji program, which aimed to complete 10,000 recitations of the Qur’an. The program was initiated by Dewan Kemakmuran Masjid Masjid Agung Manunggal Bantul. The Qur’an recitation activity took place over three days, from March 3 to March 6, 2026.
During the event, MTsN 6 Bantul successfully completed 506 full recitations (khatam) of the Qur’an. Due to this achievement, the head of the madrasah, Sugiyono, received a certificate of appreciation at the closing ceremony. The event coincided with the commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an and was held at Pendopo Parasamya Bantul on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Sugiyono expressed his gratitude for the teamwork shown by teachers, staff, and students who participated enthusiastically in the program. “Alhamdulillah, thanks to the cooperation of teachers, staff, and their guidance to students, the madrasah received this award. We never expected it, because we simply encouraged students to take part in the activity. Hopefully, this recognition will motivate all members of the madrasah community to love reading the Qur’an,” he said.
The award was presented by Habib A. Syakur, Chairman of the Mosque Prosperity Council of Masjid Agung Manunggal Bantul. MTsN 6 Bantul, along with four other participants, received special appreciation from the organizing committee.
The other recognized institutions included Pondok Pesantren Al Imdad, JMQH, SMAN 1 Jetis, and SMAN 1 Bantul. In terms of the number of participants contributing to the Qur’an recitations, the ranking was led by Pondok Pesantren Al Imdad, followed by MTsN 6 Bantul, SMAN 1 Jetis, and SMAN 1 Bantul.(rin/ewh)
