The role of teachers is not limited to classroom instruction but also extends to serving as mentors and facilitators in developing students’ potential. This was demonstrated by MTsN 6 Bantul Informatics teacher, Imam Bibit, who provided intensive guidance to a student research team during the research proposal preparation process on Tuesday (January 6, 2025).
The mentoring aimed to equip students with critical, systematic, and data-driven thinking skills. During the research guidance process, the Informatics teacher at MTsN 6 Bantul guided the research team through various stages, including formulating the problem background, defining research objectives, selecting appropriate research methods, and applying techniques for data processing and presentation, ensuring that the proposals developed were grounded in strong scientific principles.
The research mentoring activities served as a form of contextual learning that encouraged students to integrate informatics knowledge with other disciplines. In addition to understanding the technical aspects of proposal writing, students were also trained to collaborate effectively in teams, engage in rational discussions, and take responsibility for shared outcomes.
Through this mentoring, students are expected not only to produce high-quality research proposals but also to develop the mental and academic readiness required to participate in higher-level research activities. MTsN 6 Bantul Informatics teacher Imam Bibit played an active role in fostering a culture of research and scientific literacy within the madrasa, in line with the spirit of 21st-age. (Imb/ewh)
