Bantul (MTs Negeri 6 Bantul) – Boundless creativity continues to be demonstrated by students of MTsN 6 Bantul on February 14, 2026. This time, two selected students showed great enthusiasm as they were directly involved in the filming process of a profile video titled “Batik Markisa,” a distinctive handmade craft product that has become a source of pride for the school.
Under the warm yet friendly sunshine, the two students were seen carefully arranging camera angles and ensuring that every detail of the batik patterns was perfectly captured. The video production aims to introduce a unique batik-making technique that uses natural dyes and motifs inspired by passion fruit plants grown within the school environment.
One of the students involved in the project expressed excitement about participating in the creative production. For him, it was not merely a school assignment, but also a platform to channel his passion for cinematography.
“At first, I felt nervous because we had to make sure the batik details looked aesthetic, but it turned out to be really fun! We want to show that Batik Markisa from MTsN 6 Bantul has high artistic value and is ‘cool’ for young people. The shooting process truly made us eager to explore new techniques,” he said.
The Head of MTsN 6 Bantul, Mr. Sugiyono, expressed his strong appreciation for the students’ initiative. He believes that combining traditional skills (batik-making) with modern skills (videography) represents a progressive step in character education at the madrasah.
“We are very proud to see the students’ enthusiasm. Through this video production, they not only learn to appreciate the cultural heritage of Batik Markisa, but also develop their digital literacy skills. This is the portrait of today’s madrasah students: creative, competent, and proud of their local products,” he remarked while observing the production process.
The students’ video will later be uploaded to the school’s social media platforms as part of a campaign to encourage love for local products from an early age. (tik/ewh)
