MTsN 6 Bantul continues to demonstrate its commitment to eco-friendly innovation through a program that utilizes wastewater from ablution for catfish cultivation. This initiative not only supports environmental sustainability but has also produced added value through the creation of catfish chips, which were processed on Monday (17/11/2025). The product has now become one of the school’s leading creative outputs.
Wastewater from ablution, which previously went unused, is now channeled into catfish ponds through a simple filtration system. Through this effort, students gain hands-on experience in water management, food security, and environmentally based entrepreneurship.
Following the cultivation period, the harvested catfish are processed into crispy, savory catfish chips with economic value. This product serves as a practical example of entrepreneurship within the school environment, offering students real-world exposure to sustainable resource utilization.
The initiative has strengthened the students’ understanding of how environmental stewardship can be integrated with creative business practices, reinforcing the school’s vision of education that is both practical and impactful.
The Principal of MTsN 6 Bantul, Sugiyono, expressed his appreciation for the effort. “This program not only benefits the environment but also equips students with essential life skills and an innovative mindset.
