Bantul (MTsN 6 Bantul)—An atmosphere of authentic learning was strongly felt at MTsN 6 Bantul as students engaged in direct dialogue with a native speaker from Africa on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Around 60 students gathered in an air-conditioned room at the de’Talenta Library to take part in this meaningful English learning experience.
The native speaker, Serge Nanda, warmly greeted the students and created a friendly learning environment from the very beginning. With his approachable manner, he encouraged students to speak up and respond in English, while consistently giving positive feedback that boosted their confidence throughout the session.
Through this seesion, students were invited to practice English in a real communicative context. They asked questions, shared simple ideas, and responded bravely despite making mistakes. The presence of a native speaker as the direct source of language made the learning process more natural and engaging for the students.
The Head of MTsN 6 Bantul, Sugiyono, shared his testimony regarding the activity. He stated that the learning experience truly represented authentic learning because students interacted directly with a native speaker as the original source of the language. According to him, such activities are essential to help students understand how English is used in real-life situations.
One of the students, Ridho, expressed his happiness after the session. Although he admitted feeling a little nervous at first, he was proud to have the chance to speak directly with a native speaker. The experience made him more confident and motivated to continue practicing English in the future. (ewh)
