Bantul (MTsN 6 Bantul) — In an effort to foster tolerance and a spirit of togetherness within the madrasah environment, MTsN 6 Bantul held a Religious Moderation Strengthening Activity on Wednesday (November 6, 2025). The event was attended enthusiastically by all Grade 8 students.
The program was officially opened by the Principal, Sugiyono, who emphasized the importance of religious moderation in shaping students’ character to be faithful, noble, and respectful of differences. “Religious moderation does not mean reducing one’s religious zeal, but rather teaching us to be fair, balanced, and respectful toward diversity,” he stated.
The session was delivered by a speaker from the Religious Extension Office (KUA) of Banguntapan Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, who explained the four key indicators of religious moderation: national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and acceptance of local traditions. Through interactive discussions, simulations, and group presentations, students were guided to understand how to apply the values of moderation in their daily lives, both at school and at home.
The activity concluded with a joint reflection and assessment of the material presented, as well as a commitment from students to become ambassadors of religious moderation within MTsN 6 Bantul.
Teachers expressed their hope that such programs would continue to strengthen students’ character, helping them grow into a young generation that loves peace and respects diversity. (sum/vha/ewh)
