Bantul, January 9, 2026 — MTsN 6 Bantul officially launched a co-curricular farming program today, involving all students of Grades 7, 8, and 9. The program aims to develop students’ character and skills through hands-on farming activities.
The Co-Curricular Program Coordinator of MTsN 6 Bantul, Heisma Demikrawati, delivered information about the program to all students at the Al-Hikmah Prayer Hall of MTsN 6 Bantul. “This co-curricular program is closely related to the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children. We want our students to learn how to cultivate plants and develop their farming skills,” said Heisma.
Students of MTsN 6 Bantul have begun the program by forming small groups consisting of seven to eight students. They are currently preparing planting media or plots, using banana trunks placed in the life skills area.
The Head of the Madrasah, Sugiyono, added that this program is very important to introduce students to the significance of farming and to develop their skills in the agricultural field. “We want our students to become independent individuals who possess practical skills that are useful in everyday life,” he stated.
This co-curricular farming program is expected to enhance the agricultural skills and knowledge of MTsN 6 Bantul students while also shaping their character to become more independent and responsible learners. (Fau/ewh)
