Students from Yogyakarta State University (UNY) carried out an observation activity on Civic Education (PKn) learning, focusing on the implementation of moral and character education at MTsN 6 Bantul on Friday (October 17, 2025). This activity was part of the students’ efforts to understand how character education is applied within the madrasah environment.
The observation process was conducted through interviews involving several parties, including the Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs, Civic Education teachers, and Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers. The interviews took place in the principal’s office in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. Rina Harwati stated that the madrasah curriculum has incorporated moral and character education into intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. “All of these have also been included in the teaching modules,” she added.
During the interviews, the students explored various aspects related to moral and character development among the students of MTsN 6 Bantul. It is expected that this activity will provide an accurate picture of students’ moral development in the current era and serve as a valuable reference for the students in developing character-oriented Civic Education learning. “We are carrying out an assignment from our course lecturer,” said Nisa.
Sugiyono responded positively to the permission request submitted by the students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNY. “Please feel free to observe the implementation of moral and character education in our madrasah. Hopefully, the madrasah will also benefit from the results of this observation,” emphasized Sugiyono.
The observation activity concluded with a class visit by the UNY students, accompanied by Civic Education teachers. Through these visits, the students were able to observe firsthand the learning process and the interaction between teachers and students in instilling moral values within the madrasah. (muf/rin/ewh)
