The MTsN 6 Bantul girls’ basketball team, known as “Defense,” achieved an impressive milestone at the 18th Timoer Cup held on Saturday, 22 November 2025, at GOR Srihardono, Pundong, Bantul. The tournament became a historic moment for the team as it marked their first appearance wearing their new uniforms, which boosted the players’ confidence throughout the competition.

The prestigious student-level event featured six participating teams: MTsN 6 Bantul, SMP Kanisius, SMP 2 Kretek, SMP 3 Banguntapan, SMP 2 Bambanglipuro, and SMP 1 Pundong.

From the opening match, the MTsN 6 Bantul girls’ team displayed a strong performance. Their teamwork, tight defense, and agility on the court enabled “Defense” to advance all the way to the final round. Support from teachers, team officials, and enthusiastic supporters further fueled the athletes’ determination to give their best.

In the final match, “Defense” faced a formidable opponent from SMP 3 Banguntapan. The game was intense and highly competitive, but MTsN 6 Bantul ultimately finished as the runner-up. Despite the narrow loss, securing 2nd place was a significant achievement, especially considering it was their debut appearance with a new, more professional team identity through their updated uniforms.

Brasta Eka Eryana, the coach and supervisor of the MTsN 6 Bantul basketball extracurricular program, expressed great appreciation for the players’ effort and sportsmanship. “This is an extraordinary beginning. The girls performed optimally, and the new uniforms strengthened the team’s character. Winning 2nd place is a very proud accomplishment,” he stated.

With this achievement, the “Defense” girls’ basketball team hopes to maintain their performance, enhance their technical skills, and earn even greater success in future competitions.
